FF7 is nowhere near the top. Here's my list: FF6, FF10, FF1, FF9, FF4, FF5, FF7 then the rest. So I'd put it in the middle of the pack honestly. It's a great game but to say it's the best of the series? Or the best RPG ever made? (LOL how bout Chrono Trigger you loons?!) How about no.

FF5 had superior gameplay to FF7 and FF8 by far. It's not as good as FF6, FF9, FF10, but it's excellent. The main problem with FF5? The story's not very good. Characters not all that engaging. The villain? LOL! Only Gilgamesh matters let's get real. The job system in FF5 is a vastly improved version of FF3. And honestly FF5 is superior to FF3 in every single way since the characters and story of FF3 also sucked even worse. Music wise? FF5 was middle of the pack for the series but that of course means the music is excellent. Bottom line is I would much rather play FF5 than any of the more recent action RPG style FF games.

FF15 was a mess gameplay wise. But the difference for me was that I played it on PC with all the goodies and fixes and DLC. I really loved the music, the story, the characters. I loved the boy band vibe and cruising around in my pseudo 1950s car listening to old Final Fantasy tracks. The game really had some great moments. What a damn shame the combat system was awful...I did master it though. The world made me want to keep playing. At the end of this game I felt like these boy band guys were my old friends. Very cool. If the combat was better...you know, turn based...this would be one of my all time favorites.

The original FF7 was not a great game. It was good, not great. FF7 Remake? Garbage. Your previous review was correct. How do you do a 180 on this game from your previous stance? This game was an improvement from the FF15 combat system though, no doubt about that. Going and saying, "its so purdy" doesn't make it a good game. Your previous review went over the problem with playing one character..and having to use all characters to be efficient/effective. What they needed was superior A.I. and better commands. FF12 was moving in this direction as much as I hated that game. I didn't hate FF12 due to the gameplay necessarily, it was the lousy music score and lousy characters and story that killed it for me. By the way I loved Rad Racer, and loved the first Final Fantasy. The first one is one of the best in the series warts and all. FF6 may be the best of the series but the first game? Vastly underrated. When you mention "hallway simulator" this is why most of us Final Fantasy fanboys hated 13. And yes it's why Remake is hated too.

I just got into emulation because of it being allowed on iPhone and I know NOTHING of emulation and I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to play final fantasy 7 due to it being multiple disks but you saved me 🙏

If you get the item tgat allows you to fire your swords one after the other instead of side-by-side and use a turbo controller it is like having a machine gun.

I much prefer the soundtrack of FF on the WSC than the SNES, PSP, PS versions, the chiptune audio has aged beautifly and is much more harmonic, chiptune music is to audio what scanlines are to sprites graphics, it just brings out that perfect classic feel, there are some great-orchestrated GST's, which is great for modern games, but for the classics, I say stick to the beautiful chip tune music, it's one of the reason the OG Game Boy version of Tetris remains the best to date. It's for this reason I love the Mega Drive and Amiga, that FM synth has aged so much better than PCM sampled music on the SNES, if I could combine the SNES colour pallet, with the Neo-Geo sprite resolution and the Sega Mega Drives FM & PSG combination audio hardware, I would have the perfect 16-Bit console. If only Final Fantasy was released on the Mega Drive with FM synths music, maybe one day someone can make this happen, or release an SNES MSU-1 update of FF 1/2/3/4 with FM Synth or at least HQ PCM recordings of OPL3 synth soundtracks.

I assume this will also work with the Kimhank Super Console X5 pro? I don't have a PC so I'll have to use that. I also assume this will work with Sega Saturn games?

Ah…. 14 years later and the devs are still so dogshit they haven’t figured out how to let you just read a folder with the bin cues in it instead of this creating a new file in a playlist crap.

Jeez, this was a negative a$$ review 🫥 Music = selectable, go to the options and select it. You will get all fight sound effects/music, but no ambient noise from the stages. Al/Kythring bazooka = hold ‘X’ for 4-5 seconds then release. The robot = it’s been awhile, but a scientist gives him to you at one point in the game, I think it’s in ozymandias? You can use his arm cannon by holding ‘x’ for 4 seconds as well. Bild = is at the start of the game if you complete the first room before enter the 2nd room in the 1st level, run all the way back to the start of the game. He is waiting there to chat. At 5:09 in your video, if you get to the end of that area, but do not proceed to the next, run back to that man hole and it will be open and you can play through a couple more levels. The game is absolutely obscure compared to the amazing Brawl Bros/RBR, but it is fun and deep for an snes brawler from the mid 90s. Rented Rival Turf at 6 and hated it. Rented Brawl bros at 7 and fell in love with it (still have my copy of it, begged for it for Xmas that year). Technically my first import game if you punch in the code at the start. Peace Keepers, (I was 8)found it jarring at the start, but once I figured out that I can turn on the music with the options menu (switch to BGM) I loved it. Found out years later Rushing Beat Shura was completely different and when I was working in Japan in the 2010s, bought a complete copy and found it to be the superior version of the game. The only game I just can’t get behind is rival turf/rushing beat. I tried and I just can’t. Brawl bros has the best soundtrack of the 3.

This game has a well deserved reputation as one of the worst games released for the NES. Some people believe it's the absolute worst. I agree with that.

Thanks dude! Me and a friend played Matrimelee for the first time, and I was confused by the familiar faces from when I'd played Rage of the Dragons in the past. This series is pretty damn niche, so finding retrospective stuff on it was something I was worried I wouldn't be able to do, but this nailed it! Certainly interested in exploring more of the series!

This game is stiff and clunky at times, but there’s a lot that I love about it. I actually think a 3D reboot would work really well. I can imagine the details of the strange enemies, elaborate gothic/baroque architecture, and symphonic versions of the music.
